15 MuleSoft Mistakes That Can Get Your Integration Rejected in a Technical Interview

You may know DataWeave, RAML, API-led connectivity, CloudHub, MUnit and connectors — and still struggle in a MuleSoft technical interview.

1. Confusing API-Led Connectivity With Simply Creating APIs

A common weak answer is:

“API-led connectivity means creating APIs.”

That's incomplete.

API-led connectivity is an architectural approach that commonly separates integration responsibilities into System APIs, Process APIs and Experience APIs.

A strong interview answer should explain why the layers exist and what responsibility belongs in each layer.

2. Saying “DataWeave Is Just Used to Transform JSON”

Interviewer: Why did you use Until Successful?

Follow-up: What happens if the target system is unavailable for a long time?

If you understand the concept, you can reason through the answer. If you memorized only a definition, the conversation becomes difficult.

Explain WHY, WHEN and HOW.
